We all have had one of those days where we get done with our jobs, school, or just a long day in general, and we sit back and try to unwind but we just can’t. This creates stress, discomfort, moodiness, but how can we avoid this? I think a simple solution to this is music.
I wanted to create a list of music I personally think is perfect for unwinding after a long or stressful day. I am a person who constantly struggles with anxiety and depression and these songs make me forget all of that and help me focus on what’s important. Now we all have different tastes in music, so I am going to include some different types of music in this list so everyone can enjoy this. I also encourage you to branch out and try out different types of music.
So without further ado, here is a list of my top ten favorite unwinding music. These are not in any particular order, so please enjoy!
Number One: Mt. Washington by Local Natives. This song is quiet and overall nice to listen to. It’s something I particularly like to listen to when studying or just relaxing. I’ve been listening to this song for years and it never gets old.
Number Two: When We Were Young by Adele. We all know this song, it’s a classic. It’s a beautiful song accompanied by the perfect amount of volume to match Adele’s voice.
Number Three: Breathe by Catie Turner. Another calm song that’s great for any mood, and also great for studying.
Number Four: Her Diamonds by Rob Thomas. This is more of a rock song, however, it has a deep meaning behind it. It has a ton of awesome combinations of different musical elements which balances with Rob’s voice very well. If you do not know the meaning you should look this up.
Number Five: Bang by AJR. This song is so much fun, it really wants to make you just get up and start dancing. I think this song is perfect to wake you up and make anything that you thought was stressful fade away, at the very least for 2 minutes and 51 seconds.
Number Six: Adore You by Harry Styles. While I personally adore every Harry Styles song, this one I think everyone can agree is phenomenal. It’s got a wonderful beat you can dance to, and is a great song to sing in the car with your friends. Also if you have seven minutes of free time, watch the extended version of the song on YouTube. It’s worth it trust me.
Number Seven: Monster by Dodie. Dodie is one of those artists who can do everything, from slow songs to songs that are upbeat and her voice is always stunning. In this song it tells a story like many of the songs I have mentioned. It makes you want to sing with her which is why I think it’s great for getting out of that long day headspace.
Number Eight: Replay by Zendaya. Yes this song is indeed very old; however, I personally consider it to still be a bop and it will never be off my playlist. I think this song came out in 2013 so I was approximately 9 years old, but it lives in my head and I don’t ever get tired of it.
Number Nine: Maniac by Conan Gray. Another great song to sing with your friends, but also is a great song to cheer you up.
Number Ten: Blinding Lights by The Weekend. A great song to dance to. It has a techno beat but it fits so well with the song. I think overall the song just makes you happy.
